Community Services

Dear Gilmore Families,

Community Service is one of the best ways to teach your child the values of empathy.  Not only does volunteering teach children to be kind and compassionate, but it can also teach them a variety of life skills as well.  When children get involved in helping those around them, they become more involved and invested in their community.  They become more aware of their surroundings and the different people they encounter in their daily lives.  When children engage in community service, they begin to recognize that they can make a difference in the lives of others.  Volunteer opportunities help to build leadership skills and empower children to feel responsible for their actions and their behavior.

For the 2024-2025 school year, we would like to see every Wildcat participate in community service hours according to the following schedule:

Grades  1&2 10 Hours Per Year

Grades  3&4 20 Hours Per Year

Grades  5&6 25 Hours Per Year

Grades  7&8 30 Hours Per Year

Community Service does not need to be difficult or time consuming; it just takes a bit of planning and effort.  It can be a fun and rewarding experience for the entire family.   We have provided a list of suggested activities which in no way captures all the many experiences that can benefit our students, but serves as an excellent starting point.

After completing all their community service hours, students/parents should log the hours in our Community Service form.

  • In addition, once you have completed your hours, you should also upload ONE final reflection form along with proof of your hours.

All forms should be completed before May 30, 2025.
